Coquito means little frog in Spanish. A favorite childhood pastime of designer Kristen Berge was catching frogs. Now Kristen catches Thai beads, Swarovski Crystals, hand-blown furnace glass, Imported Balinese, freshwater pearls, precious and semi-precious gemstones for her jewelry creations.

I had opportunity of reviewing the Chrysoprase Chalcedony Necklace with Vermeil.  This is one of my favorite and more expensive pieces from the Coquito Designs boutique.  It arrived in a little brown cardboard case with a picture of a frog and tied with a grassy ribbon.  As good as the photo of this necklace is it doesn’t fully capture the gloss and luminance of the stones.  It’s made of 18K Gold Vermeil beads that float in between Chrysoprase faceted cushion beads, seafoam Chalcedony faceted buttons and briolettes. A large 1” wide by 1-1/4” long, faceted Seafoam Chalcedony nugget hangs at the center. The necklace is finished with an 18K Gold Vermeil toggle clasp and measures 16-1/2 inches long.

The subtle shade variations of Seafoam Chalcedony stones with accents of Kelly Green and Granny Smith Apple Chrysophrase are warmed by gold vermeil.  A palette sure to compliment any skin tone.  The large pentagon-like shaped center stone does not overpower the necklace. The translucent and opaque stones, different shades and shapes of green and gold create a harmonious balance.  I love the smooth, cool feeling of the Chalcedony stones against my skin and the way it brightens whatever I wear with it.
